As the first concert hall ever, the Elbphilharmonie starts the 2023/24 season with a Creator in Residence: the young US composer, pianist and YouTube icon Nahre Sol. For her more than 600,000 subscribers, she shares the magic of the Elbphilharmonie programme with numerous videos on her own platform and on the Elbphilharmonie's various digital channels. An artistic match made in Heaven, because »the Elbphilharmonie is an incredibly inspiring concert hall and we have the shared goal of making music accessible for as many people as possible«, says Nahre Sol.

From the lumber yard to the Elbphilharmonie stage: pianist and YouTube sensation Nahre Sol pays a visit to the Steinway factory in Hamburg and gets shown around the various production lines and department. Countless steps of craftmanship and decades of experience go into the approximately three-year process from the wood store to the finished instrument. During this time there is plenty of bending, gluing, screwing and hammering, varnishing and, of course, a lot of careful listening.

Bringing her residency to a close with a special final flourish, Nahre Sol has composed variations on the world-famous iPhone ringtone known as »Opening«. Written for string quartet, she transforms the short ringtone melody into classical styles of composers like Bach and Mozart, and the tango maestro Astor Piazolla.

Already during her piano studies at the renowned Juilliard School in New York, Nahre Sol found an additional creative outlet in digital formats as a content creator. More than 600,000 subscribers now follow the American vlogger on YouTube as she explores the world of music in all its facets – from Beethoven and Debussy, synthesizers and computer-game music to conducting and the theory of harmony. Her YouTube channel counts 41 million views and also on Instagram and TikTok Nahre Sol reaches hundreds of thousands of people with her innovative way of music education.

As if that all wasn't enough, the multi-talented musician is also a composer, producing song cycles, piano music and film soundtracks.
