6 March / Laeiszhalle : Beethoven: Missa solemnis / Thomas Hengelbrock

»From the heart – may it go to the heart again«, Beethoven wrote on the score of his »Missa solemnis«. And that says everything about this powerful work for orchestra, choir and soloists. Thomas Hengelbrock and his Balthasar Neumann Ensembles are a firm favourite for such large-scale choral-symphonic projects.

4 April : Strawinsky: Le sacre du printemps

When Igor Stravinsky's ballet »Le sacre du printemps« was first performed in 1913, it was a scandal – nothing like it had ever been heard before. Today, the groovy music is one of the great hits of classical music. Luciano Berio's »Sinfonia« from the 1960s is no less exciting. The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie is able to unleash its full energy here under the direction of Roderick Cox.

27 May : Mahler: Resurrection Symphony

Gustav Mahler's symphonies are monumental and yet at the same time approachable, human and touching. The composer deals with many personal themes in them.
