Song Recitals

In the highest tones: soprano and mezzo-soprano are the focus of high-calibre song recitals this season. French songs meet German lieder and, as a special highlight, delicate lute tones are heard as accompaniment instead of piano

The song recitals are all about high female voices this season: songs from France collide with profound German art songs in the first duo evening. Sabine Devieilhe contrasts Liszt and Strauss with two pioneering French female composers of the 20th century. Finnish star soprano Camilla Nylund and accompanist legend Helmut Deutsch dedicate their concert to songs of the 20th century. And on stage with Lea Desandre, Thomas Dunford plucks the strings of his lute to accompany her wonderful mezzo-soprano voice.
