Over three days, the diverse music culture of Kurdistan took over the halls of the Elbphilharmonie. Stars such as the singer Aynur and the spike-violin virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor caused a stir in the Grand Hall, the Syrian-Kurdish band Danûk got the Recital Hall dancing, and in the Kaistudio the audience marvelled at the intensity of traditional epic songs. There were also plenty of jazzy grooves, artful improvisation, sing-along melodies and virtuosic instrumentalists. An atmospheric festival that showed once again how incredibly diverse the music of the Kurdish diaspora is.
