The Elbphilharmonie Organ
It is impossible to imagine folk music without it, but it is thanks to this Lithuanian that the accordion is finally being heard on the classical stages of this world as well
As a little boy, Martynas Levickis used to imitate birdsong in the woods on a children’s accordion. When he got his first normal-sized instrument, he had to practise in front of the mirror to see the keys. Today, the Lithuanian is a sought-after soloist and composer, as well as winner of both the international accordion competition »Coupe Mondiale« and the local version of the casting show »Got Talent«, which made him known to a large TV audience. He is driven to this day by his fascination for the »box of magic tricks«, as he likes to call his instrument. Martynas Levickis now shows how quickly this magic can infect the audience in four different line-ups at the Elbphilharmonie.
