In 1998, pianist Elena Bashkirova founded the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival together with a number of fellow musicians. It is a special festival in that it was and is primarily intended for the people of the city of Jerusalem, far away from the world’s major music centres. Year after year, great musicians come to Jerusalem for the festival and play there for free. And Elena Bashkirova has been touring with some of them for years. In this concert, the programme includes compositions from the Czech-Hungarian region in various instrumentations. Works by Bohuslav Martinů and Béla Bartók will be framed by Antonín Dvořák’s string tercet and piano quintet.
