Thomas Hampson sings Mahler
Drei Konzerte im Großen Saal der Laeiszhalle. Näher können sich Werk und Interpretation kaum kommen: Thomas Hampson singt Mahler. Der weltweit umschwärmte amerikanische Bariton ist Residenzkünstler des Jubiläumsjahres »Mahler in Hamburg« und der Elbphilharmonie Konzerte. Gustav Mahler begeht in dieser Saison ein Doppeljubiläum: Am 7. Juli 2010 jährt sich zum 150. Mal sein Geburtstag, am 18. Mai 2011 zum 100. Mal sein Todestag. Und da Mahler zwischen 1891 und 1897 Kapellmeister am Hamburger Stadt-Theater war, hat die Hansestadt allen Grund, den Komponisten zu feiern. In einer groß angelegten Gemeinschaftsproduktion der Hamburger Konzertveranstalter und Orchester erklingt hier deshalb 2010/2011 Mahlers Gesamtwerk. Das vollständige Liedschaffen ruht dabei in den Händen beziehungsweise der Kehle von Thomas Hampson, der in insgesamt sechs Konzerten im Hamburger Mahlerjahr auftritt (www.mahler-inhamburg.de). Hampson ist der Musik Gustav Mahlers verfallen, seit er in jungen Jahren bei einer Autofahrt von dieser spätromantischen Klanggewalt gleichsam an den Straßenrand geblasen wurde. Unter der Anleitung von Elisabeth Schwarzkopf und Leonard Bernstein hat sich der Sänger dann rasch zur führenden Instanz in Sachen Mahler-Lied entwickelt. Auf dem Programm stehen nun alle großen Zyklen Mahlers: die »Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen« in der Orchesterfassung mit den Wiener Philharmonikern und in der Klavierfassung mit Hampsons langjährigem Begleiter Wolfram Rieger, die »Kindertotenlieder«, die Rückert-Lieder und die Lieder aus »Des Knaben Wunderhorn«, von denen einige in Hamburg ihre Uraufführung erlebten. Damit nicht genug: Hampson begleitet seine Konzerte durch ein wissenschaftliches Kolloquium am 2. März 2011. Denn wer so tief in die Mahler-Forschung eingedrungen ist, hat nicht nur viel zu singen, sondern auch einiges zu sagen.

You would rather pick out your own individual concerts than book an entire concert series? In that case, the »Wahl-Abo« is just right for you. It is the best way to experience the programmatic breadth of the Symphoniker Hamburg and not miss out on special rates: a 20% discount when buying tickets for five (or more) different concerts at the same time. The discount is only available at the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle Tickets shops and when ordering by telephone.

With the Abo-Card, two tickets can be purchased for many concerts of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Norddeutscher Rundfunk with a 10% discount. The 10% discount can be claimed directly after payment of the subscription.

Renewal: no problem
A subscription is valid for the selected series in season and will be renewed for a further season automatically, unless written notice to terminate the renewal is given by 30 June of the current season (exception: the Symphoniker Hamburg's Hasi Concerts).

Clash of appointments? Swop or transfer!
If you are unable to attend a concert in your subscription series, a voucher will be issued, which you may then redeem for your chosen concert of the same promoter (exceptions: NDR Bigband, NDR Jazz, NDR Vokalensemble and NDR Chamber Music Recitals series as well as the Symphoniker Hamburg’s »Hasi Concerts«).
Only one swop is accepted per subscription and season. Swops can only be executed within season. You must give notice of a swop request in person or by phone one week before the concert at the latest.
The right to attend the subscribed concerts can also be transferred to third parties.
