Balthasar Neumann Choir & Orchestra / Thomas Hengelbrock
Bach: Christ lag in Todesbanden / Mozart: Requiem
Great works for choir and orchestra are their speciality: Thomas Hengelbrock and his two period performance ensembles continue their concert series in Hamburg
Thomas Hengelbrock will go down in the history for all time as the person who conducted the first notes at the Elbphilharmonie. All the better that he continues to return with pleasure to the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle with pleasure every season – especially, of course, with the Balthasar Neumann Ensembles he founded, whose energetic, historically informed interpretations are regularly acclaimed here and around the world. In the 2024/25 season, they now present two absolute masterpieces of vocal music, Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s »Missa solemnis«. The highlight in spring 2025 is Christoph Willibald Gluck’s gripping opera »Iphigénie en Tauride« featuring the celebrated young soprano Carolina López Moreno in the title role.
