Zehetmair Quartett
Brahms / Webern / Sibelius
Intimate voices
The Zehetmair Quartet has been playing hard to get in recent years, giving very few performances. Back in 1994, the violinist and conductor Thomas Zehetmair fulfilled a dream and formed his own ensemble, which gave a guest performance with the Hamburg Friends of Chamber Music many years ago. Besides the standard repertoire, the quartet also impresses with its incredible grasp of contemporary music.
The Zehetmair Quartet has premiered a number of works, including Heinz Holliger’s String Quartet No. 2. With Jean Sibelius’s String Quartet »Voces Intimae«, Anton Webern’s Six Bagatelles Op. 9 and Johannes Brahms’s Quartet Op. 51, the quartet now comes to the Laeiszhalle with a striking programme – and an indirect Hamburg reference. As with anything of rarity, this chamber music recital is something to look forward to and treasure.
