Stefan Gwildis is certainly not the first German soul singer, but he is the first to have succeeded in congenially rendering classics by Otis Redding, Bill Withers, the Temptations and Ray Charles in the German language. Gwildis has been producing authentic soul music for German-speaking audiences for more than 40 years, performing in concerts, musicals, readings, films, TV programmes and theatre productions. He turns sixty in October 2018, and there was only one place the »German soul man of the north« and proud Hamburg native wanted to celebrate this special birthday: at the Elbphilharmonie. It is an opportunity to fulfil the long-held dream of performing a »best of« programme of his biggest hits with the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra and his long-standing band.
