Silje Nergaard
»For You a Thousand Times«
Silje Nergaard is one of Norway’s best-known jazz singers, and she enjoys great success in the rest of Europe as well. After an appearance aged only 16 at Norway’s biggest festival, »Moldejazz«, she was discovered by no lesser figure than Pat Metheny, who didn’t waste any time organising a recording contract for her. Nergaard’s songs have always featured serious thoughts about life and the world in general, and that applies to her new album, »For You a Thousand Times«, too: the inspiration for the album came from pictures of families from North and South Korea who finally got the chance to see each other again after decades of separation. Other songs deal with war, separation and longing – musical stories full of hope.
