Cosmic music straddling yesterday and tomorrow

Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane has long freed himself from the legacy of his famous parents. Under the title »Cosmic Music: A Contemporary Exploration into the Music of John and Alice Coltrane«, he now turns towards their music and spiritual heritage. Ravi Coltrane was born in 1965, two years before his father’s death. In »Cosmic Music«, named after a joint record by his parents, he now engages directly with their musical inheritance for the very first time.

Discount: By presenting a ticket for this concert you will receive €1 discount on a ticket for the film screening »Space is the Place« at the Zeise Kino.

In projects with contemporaries of his father such as Elvin Jones and McCoy Tyner, as well as with jazz-influenced electronic musicians such as Flying Lotus, Coltrane has previously developed his own expressive sound with numerous albums as a sideman and under his own name. In Ravi Coltrane’s music, the past lives on, but it speaks with a voice from the here and now.
