Live Stream / Max Richter: Sleep
Reflektor Max Richter & Yulia Mahr
All the colours of sleep
Max Richter’s »Sleep« broke two Guinness World Records when it aired on BBC Radio 3: the longest work ever broadcast and the longest ever live radio broadcast. As prelude to the Reflektor weekend »Sleep« has been broadcast as an online only live stream from the Elbphilharmonie, it was available until 4 January 2022.
With his eight-hour composition in 2015, Max Richter issued an invitation to pause and consciously experience peace – and that before meditation and mindfulness had become mainstream. Shortly after the start of the pandemic, on the Easter weekend of 2020, the BBC and the European Broadcasting Union brought the project to hundreds of thousands of radio listeners in 15 countries via a global broadcast.
