Concert for Children: Ages 10+
Talented children and teenagers from Hamburg and the surrounding areas create a very special mood to get the concert hall moving.
When the Felix Mendelssohn Jugendsinfonieorchester performs, they completely fill the stage of the large concert hall. With more than 100 members aged between 10 and 27, the ensemble is not only one of the biggest but also one of the most successful of its kind. Based in Hamburg, they have been travelling the world, with a changing line-up, for the last 40 years. In addition to the Harbour Suite composed specially for this concert, they perform well-known works by composers such as Beethoven and Dvořák, gradually dissolving into favourite pop classics.
The orchestra is supported by the young and talented group of soloists from the Hamburg education project The Young ClassX. The concert is presented by Hamburg-born cult actor Fahri Yardim. He has starred in cinema hits such as »Männerherzen« and »Honig im Kopf«, and was Til Schweiger’s sidekick in the popular TV series »Tatort«.
