Alongside the Elbphilharmonie, the organ in the Grand Hall also celebrates its fifth birthday this season. A serenade to commemorate this special anniversary is performed by titular organist Iveta Apkalna herself. Almost exactly five years to the day after her first solo evening – the first organ concert ever given at the Elbphilharmonie – the Latvian organist presents a programme of chorale transcriptions by Franz Liszt and Johann Sebastian Bach as well as a works by her compatriot Pēteris Vasks. Stephen Tharp, Naji Hakim and rising star Thomas Ospital feature in other concerts.
