Maximum minimal: three works by living legend Steve Reich will delight the audience in the first concert of »State of the Art«. Composed for the film »Moving Pictures« by German painter Gerhard Richter, »Reich/Richter« can be experienced audiovisually. György Kurtág was inspired by Franz Kafka’s diaries and letters for his »Kafka Fragments« for soprano and violin. With Christian Mason’s »Sympathetic Resonance« and Helmut Lachenmann’s »My Melodies«, the hr-Sinfonieorchester under the baton of Matthias Hermann will perform two orchestral works as part of »Elbphilharmonie Visions« in which the brass instruments are in the spotlight. For the Pierre Boulez spotlight, star pianist Tamara Stefanovich will dedicate herself to his Second Piano Sonata, before improvisations with her jazz ensemble SDLW bring the concert to a brilliant close.
