Experience the stars of tomorrow in the Elbphilharmonie today: »Rising Stars« is an initiative by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), in which the great concert halls of the continent join forces to shape the future of the music world together. Every year since 1995, they have been choosing the best young artists and sending them out on tour around Europe. And that’s not all: in addition to performing on the world’s most prestigious stages, the aspiring musicians take part in coaching and workshops that prepare them as the future stars of the classical scene. Many former Rising Stars now belong to the classical elite, including Khatia Buniatishvili, Igor Levit, Christian Tetzlaff and the Belcea Quartet.

The candidates who were unable to perform live in front of an audience in 2021 because of coronavirus restrictions finally get their chance in the 2022/23 season – from a classical string quartet to a percussion duo. Each Rising Star will be performing a brand-new work that was specially composed for them by one of the most exciting composers in the contemporary scene.

And don’t forget, you can find out more about the Rising Stars and the works performed in an informal discussion with the artist one hour before the concert.
