»For me, communication is the crucial factor in any concert. I go out onto the stage, I bring something with me and I share it,« says Igor Levit about himself and his concerts. What he shares with his audience – the music, the moment, the energy – is so magnificent that he has become one of the most successful of the new generation of piano virtuosos. Reason enough to entrust Igor Levit with the opening concert of the »Master Pianists« series.

Three piano legends are also in the line-up: Rudolf Buchbinder, Grigory Sokolov and Murray Perahia. This illustrious circle is joined by Evgeni Koroliov, who teaches at the Hamburg University of Music, and his one-time student and present-day colleague Anna Vinnitskaya, who became Germany’s youngest Professor of Piano upon her appointment in 2009. The six piano concerts take place, as usual, in the Grand Hall of the Laeiszhalle. These are complemented by additional top-class concerts in the Elbphilharmonie with piano superstars Hélène Grimaud and Lang Lang.
