Two of the world’s best orchestras are part of this high-calibre orchestral subscription: the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. They will be conducted by the young high-flyer Klaus Mäkelä, who will take over the leadership in Amsterdam in 2027, and Sir Simon Rattle, who will then be in the second year of his Munich tenure. You can also look forward to classical music stars such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Alexandre Kantorow and Julian Rachlin, who present major solo works from the 20th century. The French ensemble Pygmalion and its charismatic director Raphaël Pichon perform on period instruments and, after Bach and Mendelssohn, now move on to the Romantic period with Johannes Brahms’ deeply moving Requiem.
