Elbphilharmonie Subscription 4

Operatic classics, Mozart masses and orchestral songs – the voice takes centre stage here. The subscription also features two great Tchaikovsky symphonies and world stars such as Klaus Mäkelä and violinist Vilde Frang

In addition to two powerful symphonies by Tchaikovsky, this subscription is particularly impressive with its three major vocal projects: Jordi Savall takes on Mozart’s overwhelming Mass in C minor; audience favourite Thomas Hengelbrock and his Balthasar Neumann ensembles bring Christoph Willibald Gluck’s opera classic »Iphigénie en Tauride« to the stage; and opera star Nina Stemme sings Gustav Mahler’s poignant »Kindertotenlieder«. She will be accompanied by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and its new chief conductor Ryan Bancroft, who was frenetically acclaimed at his Elbphilharmonie debut just a few months ago. The illustrious line-up of Scandinavian classical music greats is completed by the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang and the Finnish conductor Klaus Mäkelä with his Oslo Philharmonic.
