Radio symphony orchestras have always made a speciality of rarely performed repertoire treasures. This season, four of them are demonstrating their quality in this area in the Connoisseurs’ subscription. The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra comes to Hamburg with a mix of fabulous Czech music from the Romantic and modern eras. With the dramatic oratorio »Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher«, the hr-Sinfonieorchester from Frankfurt brings Arthur Honegger’s most famous work to the stage – with none other than French Oscar award-winner Marion Cotillard in the title role. The compositions presented by the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester from are all from this century. And the SWR Symphonieorchester and its Chief Donductor Designate François-Xavier Roth dedicate their concert to key works by Pierre Boulez, whose 100th birthday will be celebrated in 2025, as well as Anton Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony as the crowning finale.
