Das Alte Werk

From classics such as the »Four Seasons« and Bach cantatas to rarities such as England’s first opera. This season’s noteworthy early music subscription features rising stars such as violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and legends like Ton Koopman

Early music is no longer a niche concern. More and more young artists are revitalising the music of past centuries in fresh interpretations. One of these first-class artists is the French baroque violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte, who has devised a virtuoso programme related to Vivaldi’s famous »Four Seasons«. Rarities by the Neapolitan baroque composer Leonardo Vinci and the first English (semi-)opera »Psyche« are waiting to be discovered. »Sun King« Louis XIV also sends his regards, and of course one composer is not to be missed: Johann Sebastian Bach.
