Many music lovers consider chamber music to be the most distinguished of the classical music forms – an opinion shared by leading composers over the centuries. Let the brilliant soloists take over the Grand Hall: in an intimate space, the depth and intensity of the musical experience feels even greater.

Great musicians seek and find fulfilment in performing not only solo but also with others in a group. This chamber music series, located in the intimate Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, is dedicated to the supporters of chamber music.

The series gets underway with the string quartet giants Beethoven and Shostakovich, performed by Finnish ensemble Meta4, acclaimed for its unconventional and riveting interpretations. This is followed by star cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, who brings a delegation from his Lockenhaus Festival to Hamburg. Sisters Laume and Baiba Skride – the latter has adopted Hamburg as her home – embark with three friends on a journey through the world of Russian piano quintets. And finally, the musicians of the Belcea Quartet and the Cuarteto Casals join forces to create a deluxe string sextet – in honour of Brahms.
