Are you keen to immerse yourself in foreign cultures, despite a fear of flying and a lack of foreign language skills? No problem! In the »Around the World« series, the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall is transformed into a place of exciting discoveries and inspirational transcultural encounters.

With no stylistic, ethnic or political borders, this series of four concerts presents the fruits of cultural globalisation in the most positive sense! The series kicks off with the Irish supergroup The Gloaming, who are followed by the current queen of Portuguese fado – the charismatic singer Mariza. Anoushka Shankar keeps the legacy of her father, Ravi Shankar, alive and transports audiences to India with the spiritual sound cascades of her sitar. The series is brought to a close with some rousing flamenco music by the fiery Andalusian guitar virtuoso Tomatito.
