After their highly-regarded »Beethoven Journey«, which they also performed at the Laeiszhalle in 2014, Leif Ove Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra set out on a new (musical) journey this season. Their destination this time is Vienna in 1785/86, when Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was at the pinnacle of his career. His piano concertos, where the soloist and the orchestra enter into a dialogue of equals, play a particularly prominent role in his oeuvre of the time. Mozart elevated the genre to a new level, paving the way for Beethoven and his successors.

By the same token, Andsnes and the »MCO« are once again equal partners in their »Mozart Momentum 1785/1786«. The Norwegian conductor leads the orchestra from the piano in two concerts, in addition to which there are songs and chamber music on the programme. The vocal soloist is the soprano and acclaimed Mozart interpreter Christiane Karg.
