The Times suggested that he be given the nickname »Special FX« because François-Xavier Roth conjures up such surprising effects here and there that he astonishes even his own musicians. The charismatic conductor not only possesses a special feeling for colour, but he is also an innovative programme designer who loves discovering new things and breaking down boundaries. François-Xavier Roth now has the orchestra Les Siècles, of which he is the founder, bring Mozart together with György Ligeti – playing different instruments from the time when the music was composed in each case. And with his second ensemble, the Cologne Gürzenich Orchestra, he presents spectacular stage drama: Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s opera »Die Soldaten« in a concert version created by the Spanish star director Calixto Bieito.
