Company Structure

Two companies are responsible for the operation of the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle: HamburgMusik gGmbH (HamburgMusik), and Elbphilharmonie und Laeiszhalle Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (ELBG). While the Laeiszhalle building is owned by the city and is only leased by ELBG, the Elbphilharmonie concert area is owned by HamburgMusik and is leased directly by that company to ELBG.

COMMITTEES

ELBPHILHARMONIE & LAEISZHALLE MISSION STATEMENT

At the Elbphilharmonie, music and architecture merge to create a unique overall experience. The visionary yet inviting building in a striking location on the waterfront offers unrivalled panorama views of the port and the city. The design of the foyers, the impressive acoustics and the atmosphere in the halls with the close proximity between the stage and the audience heighten the senses and facilitate especially intense communal experiences

The Elbphilharmonie is a concert hall of international standing where artistic innovation and extraordinary creativity happen. It draws top artists and concertgoers from all over the world, while also inviting the population of the city in all its diversity to keep rediscovering the magic of music and to find a place of respectful relating.

The Laeiszhalle represents the history of Hamburg as a city of music and is an important fixed point in the city’s cultural life. The venue offers musicians and ensembles a setting for high-quality events in an elegant, familiar atmosphere.

Current socio-political discourses and changes are reflected in the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle’s programmes and communications. The two concert halls thereby represent the relevance of culture in the lives of every individual, and they actively shape the future of live music and Hamburg’s cultural identity. That is what the concert hall team works to achieve day after day.
