Chamber Music at the Laeiszhalle

Renowned soloists such as Isabelle Faust, Alexandre Kantorow, Antoine Tamestit and others, united by their love of making music in small formations – this is chamber music, perfectly staged in the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall

Whether string instruments alone or supplemented by piano: chamber music is particularly appealing for composers and musicians alike. All voices are important and audible, much more transparent than in the massive volume of an orchestra. A special magic is created on stage when everyone breathes together and feels the music together. This season focuses on quartets and quintets and almost every concert features Brahms, who can unfold symphonic dimensions even in a small orchestra. The renowned Bennewitz Quartet »borrows« Veronika Hagen, violist of the equally legendary Hagen Quartet, for their concert. Violinist Isabelle Faust gathers an all-star line-up with Antoine Tamestit, Jean-Guihen Queyras and others for a veritable Schubertiade. Resident Artist Alexandre Kantorow and Daniel Lozakovich are two of the current stars of the music world and join forces in a piano quartet, while the Chiarascuro Quartet provides a new listening experience with period instruments.
