The miller's daughter simply doesn't love him, as the journeyman painfully finds out in Franz Schuberts »Die schöne Müllerin«. The song cycle that opens with the well-known »Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust« accompanies the young protagonist on obscure paths: he takes a job as a mill, falls in love with the beautiful miller's daughter, and loses himself in the end, lovesick and searching in vain for a meaning to life.
Musicbanda Franui's new project is another real event: the chamber-music ensemble from the mountains of Austria not only plays with virtuosity, it also regularly joins forces with artists from completely different fields. In their latest production they cooperate with bass-baritone Florian Boesch and the puppeteer Nikolaus Habjan. Together, they present »Die schöne Müllerin« in a groundbreaking new version, supported by Boesch's thrilling vocals and Habjan's marvellously played puppets.
