    There are only a few great viola stars and Antoine Tamestit is one of them. As resident artist of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, he showcases all facets of his instrument. To kick things off, he builds a bridge from Bach to Hindemith.

    : Pianomania: Mariam Batsashvili

    Want to enjoy an evening of opera with Mozart, Bellini and Gounod condensed into a one-woman show? Pianist Marian Batsashvili makes it possible in »Pianomania«, where she presents famous arias – virtuosically translated into the sound world of 88 keys.

    : Schubertiad

    Franz Schubert was the song composer par excellence. His works are sometimes imbued with subtle humour, sometimes invite you to dream, but always touch the heart. The NDR Vokalensemble now presents the most beautiful choral songs in the Elbphilharmonie.

    : Kit Armstrong: Beethoven 27

    Beethoven’s 27 most essential works, performed in 27 EU cities by 2027: exceptional pianist Kit Armstrong and conductor Jan Caeyers are planning an ambitious project. Now they are coming to Hamburg with the 2nd Piano Concerto and the famous »Pathétique«.

    : National State Symphony Orchestra of the Ukraine

    Star cellist Raphaela Gromes and the Ukrainian orchestra are travelling as cultural ambassadors: with the famous melodies from Dvořák’s cello concerto and his symphony »From the New World«, the concert is all about hope and new beginnings.

    : Symphoniker Hamburg: Romeo and Juliet

    Hector Berlioz was deeply moved and inspired by Shakespeare’s timeless and touching love story. He poured it into passionate, exuberant music for large orchestra, choir and vocal solos – a symphonic dream theatre.

    : Vinci: Oratorio per la Madonna del Rosario

    This will be a historic moment: For the first time since it was written in the 17th century, this oratorio will be performed again. Vinci’s operas are regarded as true baroque fireworks – and this one will be no different. And in the best original sound!

    : Chiaroscuro Quartet / Cédric Tiberghien

    Romantic composers sound unusually light and fresh here: the Chiaroscuro Quartet plays on period instruments, as does world-class pianist Cédric Tiberghien. Alongside Brahms and Schumann, Haydn, the »forefather« of the string quartet genre, will be heard.

    No events will take place in the Laeiszhalle from 17 June to 6 October. For several seasons during summer, the historic building will be modernised in terms of building and event technology, e.g. with better air conditioning and a new lighting system.

    When war breaks out in Antonia’s homeland, she must say goodbye to her best friend and emigrate: to the rail station, through wild Atlantic storms and to the land of freedom. A magical concert film without words, featuring music by Vivaldi and Dvořák.
